Weirdest bit of troubleshooting...
03/11/14 04:56 PM

Noticed a day or two ago that I lost a hard drive. Pulled all of them out and tested with a cradle and a laptop... all worked. Swapped around cables and power... looked like a bad cable. Swapped out the SATA cable with an old crap one without the clip that holds it in place... same damn thing. So... I figure the port on the motherboard somehow went bad. I have a fast CD burner with lightscribe and a Blu-Ray burner. Don't use lightscribe much but I watch Blu-Ray movies sometimes so I vote for swapping ports with the HDD in question and the fast CD burner.

Now everything works.

Remember that this was just an "all of the sudden" type of thing. No BIOS settings have changed, everything had been fine for years, and I had swapped cables around and swapped out a cable.

WTF?

Just broke my personal record for number of consecutive days without dying!
