I dunno, Java apps are infamous for doing this kind of shit on Windows and Linux as well. For example if you have multiple monitors and they aren't arranged to make a rectangular area, Java apps will often assume that the desktop area is a rectangle big enough to contain all your screens and place themselves in the top left of that, which could be in a "black spot" that no monitor covers. On Windows at least you can do alt+space, M, then arrow keys.
