There are many possible explanations.
1. begging the question (you assume it doesn't exist here because you don't read it and not the other way round). 2. people from the US get more defensive and so the threads become more visible. 3. people from the US start more racist (etc) threads.
I don't think there is any prejudice against the US. Whenever North Korea do something stupid then it gets just as much coverage as when the US does something stupid.
Using the loony bin as your example is pretty insane. It's statistically insignificant and the people who post here are self selecting.
