(RESOLVED) New to Ipac-4 -- It keeps trying to work as "Shifted"? Why?
01/30/14 03:32 AM

Hey guys,

So I just got my ipac-4, and I'm doing something wrong, but I'm not sure what. By default, I open up WinIpac, and the defaults for up, down, left, right are up arrow, down arrow, left arrow, right arrow, but it seems like everything is using the shifted commands. I'm not sure why. All my buttons are connected to ground and "normal open".

Additionally, the button I have connected to 1SW2 doesn't seem to ever work. I've tried different wires, different buttons, different switches, but nothing seems to ever work.

Is there something obvious I'm missing here?

Update:

Even stranger,

I plugged in my IPAC4, then loaded up WinIPAC. When I pushed the up, down, left, right, 1sw1 and 1sw2 buttons, they all worked correctly!

Sweet!

I booted up Mame, and then a rom, and none of my controls worked. I went into the mame configuration, and set the UP for player 1, and it defaulted to V again.

I closed Mame and reopened WinIPAC, and now its showing the shifted values. I didn't change anything, I didn't reprogram anything... I'm at a loss as to what's going on.
