Took a little bit to get just the VPin program up and running, but wasn't too terrible at first. Loaded F-14 Tomcat, VERY impressed with the play. Whoever is doing the table art and physics on these is crushing it.
Got so excited I started playing with art/DMD/back-glass on a second monitor, front ends, etc...and holy hell what a mess appeared.
Naming conventions between rom/table/art are all over the place. Several versions of each art and table file, some are version specific to VP. VP needs a front end to run multiple monitors. The front end needs a 'server' to run properly. Once installed, multiple files must be moved and renamed by hand to work properly. vpt needed to be altered and recompiled. Forum guidance and downloads necessitated registration at 3 different forums. Forum downloads for needed flies are a 5 click 3 page process. Load times through the front end are obscene as compared to the standard VPin load. Back-glass atempts result in my desktop and mouse disappearing....which appears to be a launcher issue....New launcher copied over...says to rename the backglass exe's to the table name...only have backglass uvp and pngs....Reading up on what I missed...VB sciprts to install...font packs to install...holy hopping hell....
eek.
