UGH! Ever have one of those projects that should take 5 minutes tops end up gobbling up your entire day? Yeah.
So moving a TV from one wall to another.
Previously I hung it with lag bolts into the studs, but my kids lost one of the bolts, so I made a trip to Lowe's to replace it. I have a ton of bolts and nuts all neatly arranged in glass jars in my shop… But I'm not at my shop, I'm at home… and Lowe's is closer… what ever. Going to Lowe's.
Well, Gatinha wants the new location to go in a beautiful hutch I salvaged, so I need bolts with nuts not lag bolts then. There was a pre-existing hole in the back of the hutch, so I can see the back wood is about 1/4 inch… so I go back to buy four 1-1/4" bolts with nuts, might be a tad long, but don't want to try too short.
Drill for the hang… what the heck? For unknown reasons, the wood at this point is an inch thick. Why? Who built this piece of shit. I know I said it was beautiful, but it's not. It's crap. Didn't deserve all the sanding and staining I gave it. Well, damn, my bolts are too short now… back to Lowe's for 2 inch bolts… still 5/16ths, so I don't need more nuts, I have those, just need four new bolts.
Get home, jam them in the holes, and damn it! The nuts have a different thread count. WHY do they even make a different thread count? A 5/16ths bolt should be just a 5/16ths bolt. Fucker! Back to Lowe's for the fourth TIME. They're gonna think I'm shop-lifting I loitering in the nut section so much today.
The whole God damn family better love the shit out of this new spot for the T.V. and by God we're all gonna watch the shit out of it now!
Back to Lowe's.
