I believe the term refers to there being rows of cabinets next to each other. A single video game is not an arcade.
Because the term has been misused so much, trying to argue over it's meaning is pretty pointless.
IMO A row of slot machines is as much an arcade as a row of video games. I agree that it doesn't tie up with what Nicola originally meant by Arcade Machine, but he got it wrong too (he might have known but really needed a vowel there).
