Riding home from work on the motorcycle today, cruising along at 45mph. Two lane road open ahead, with a very long line in the left turn lane coming up. A lady decides she doesn't want to wait in line for the left, darts back into the flow of traffic right in front of me.

First thought, I'm DEAD. No way I'm stopping the bike in time, the split second choice is flying across her hood or dumping the bike and hope I slide to a stop somewhere safe.

I choose to dump the bike. I start to lay it down, and prepare to hit the concrete with my backside.

Suddenly she sees what she's done and starts forward and across the lane. The tailpipe of the bike is scraping concrete at this point, but I see an opening and try to get the bike back up before it completely drops. I hit the throttle and pull the bars as hard as I can, feeling muscles in my back rip as I do. Somehow, someway, I get the 1100cc, heavy as a brick shithouse bike, back up. I slam on the brake, and come to an upright stop next to this lady. The first words out of my mouth are not pleasant, and she takes off without a word, or even a look of remorse.

As I try to take off I notice the tires had been gripping so hard that they slipped the bead, and the rear was now flat.
