Mame Plus will not remember settings? Striping in gameplay:

I have changed the video settigns in mame plus to lots of different things and every time I go back to the game it plays the same and when i go back to the properties they have reverted. almost as if there is an apply settings option that I cannot see or find.

Secondly...the problem I am trying to get rid of is the problem with refresh?? that makes a vertical line like a split or tear appear on the screen, usually with a lot of action going on.

I have tweaked my video card settings and tried to tweak the mame settings. Can anyone point me to the right options? I havce a core 2 duo 2.3 with a geforce 510 with 1 gb ram and also an i5 with intel hd 4000 card. They have the exact same problems so I dont think it is a vid card issue.

HELP! This is the only thing preventing me from getting a real arcade expereince out of my cabinet.
