I really couldn't care less. He's effectively been gone for the last few years anyway.
About all RB's done for the past few years is bitch about requests, work on boring MESS drivers nobody cares about (really, nobody cares), and post useless, snarky bullshit. He was valuable when he was actually working on the emulation of interesting games, but that dried up years ago.
The only stuff left to do in MAME is either of no interest to 99.999% of the planet or is such a huge pain in the ass that it'll probably never get done. Given that nobody's compensating these people for their efforts, I can totally understand the burnout and stagnation. I'm shocked MAME's come as far as it has, really.
I will say, though, that I'm really bored of whiny developers who bitch every time someone asks about Raiden 2 or some other thing people actually care about. If you don't like hearing the same stuff over and over again, fine. Don't post on forums. Don't submit drivers. Go fuck yourself. I couldn't care less. Just don't expect people to pretend that they're not interested in the things they're actually interested in just because it suits you. By contributing to MAME and posting on the forums, you are opening yourself up to that kind of bullshit, and if you can't take the heat, get out of the midget emporium.™
