Re: improving Savage Quest emulation

I dumped the award bios from the award bios upgrade utility. You know " would you like to backup the existing bios before continuing" Last time I looked, I was able to find the exact make and model of that motherboard but I think the bios and drives and such were not available as they are for say an Asus motherboard.
I was able to get the game up and running on an Abit BH-6 using the a monster voodoo 2 graphics card, soundblaster 16 and the SQ dongle. Oh, and a pentium III 800mhz
With that, it was happy enough to boot up and run the attract mode video. The game was only upset that the controller card for the joystick, coin up and buttons was not connected.
So. What's my point? Only that a PC with similar specs will run the game just fine. I know next to nothing about code and protection schemes but having experimented with the actual hardware I feel highly confident that defeating the dongle is the key. After that, well then it's just a matter of plugging in the drivers. Easy stuff, I say with great respect for those that know how to do it.
As challenges go for Mame drivers, I think this one is fairly low. No doubt it will require a powerful CPU to make it run and the rewards will be ehh Savage Quest! Not the worst game in the world. Without a doubt one of the best cabinets to convert to Mame. Ooh, that's right, I said it.
