Is it a MAME bootleg, though? There is end-of-game detection and high-score saving, a very odd DIP-switch UI.. in fact the entire UI is jank. The Galaga starfield is different from what is in the current MAME code; galaga in MAME is still "imperfect" because of the starfield bug.
Maybe it was based on MAME, but it isn't MAME as far as I can tell.
I am quite ready to be proven wrong, by the way. I do not hold this position via any deep-seated knowledge that I hold and you do not, only what I can discern from playing. Perhaps in the process of emulating this bootleg the MAME devs have discovered proof that it's a MAME port, but I've not heard of that, if it's happened.
Enlightenment welcomed.
