Plus you have to be very cautious with ROM sites.
I downloaded Marvel Vs. Capcom today from a site claiming to only have MAME 0.148 ROMs, but on checking the files with Romcenter it showed "mvce.04a" was bad.
Now, this file was re-dumped before MAME 0.140 if i remember correctly, meaning that the ROM site i visited was talking complete rubbish about being up-to-date.
The only advice i would give to the OP is:
1. Dont believe everything said by the sites you download from.
2. Dont just rely on MAME when auditing your games, learning how to use external auditing tools like romcenter or clrmamepro will save you a lot of headaches in the future.
