MAMEWorld Forums - EmuChat - Miss Mahjong Contest bug?

I haven't played Miss Mahjong Contest in ages (i.e. many MAME version) and I tried playing it tonight and it didn't work properly.

MAME version: 0.148
OSD layer: SDL
OS: OS X Snow Leopard
Build type: x64 non-debug
Driver: mcontest
Source file: nbmj8991.c

It freezes as it enters the attract loop just as the first portrait is shown. You can coin up and start a game, and it will play but sound won't work. If the gal (your opponent) calls reach, the game will freeze. If you enable character display test with DIP switches and reset it will show you all the graphics properly. I'm guessing it has something to do with sound.

mcontest seems to be most obviously affected. I tried some other games from nbmj8991.c with varying results:

triplew1: plays fine with sound
uchuuai: attract loop plays, no sound, freezes when drawing tile
tokyogal: attract loop plays, no sound, freezes when the gal calls tsumo
galkaika: attract loop plays, no sound, freezes when you call reach
galkoku: attract loop plays, no sound, freezes when you call reach
ntopstar: plays fine with sound
pstadium: plays fine with sound
triplew2: plays fine with sound
mjlstory: plays fine with sound
vanilla: plays fine with sound
qmhayaku: plays fine with sound

So it appears the nbmj8991.c games with two Z80 CPUs (main and sound) are fine, but the ones with a single Z80 CPU have no sound and freeze.

Anyone want to confirm and/or submit to MAMEtesters?
