1) make a copy of your mame.ini file
2) re-name it vector.ini
3) open vector.ini and delete the entire contents
4) type the following single line...

hlsl_enable 0



5) save the file

MAME will use the vector.ini file automatically if it exists. You don't have to specify it from the command line or anything.
