ProjectMESS: a new home for sysinfo + lots of new images!
09/12/12 11:01 PM

I am proud to announce that ProjectMESS has just become the official home of sysinfo.dat, the optional datfile which allows frontends to display a lot of info about systems emulated in MESS, like history.dat does with MAME. You can download it from the new "Extra files" page, which offers a mirror to category.ini (by ASH) too.
Not only! From the webpage for each system, you can now access a form which allows to edit the current sysinfo and to contribute with corrections or new info. If you were looking for a chance to contribute, this is your lucky day!

On a different subject, I am also happy to announce that the website is becoming richer and richer as day passes. In the past days I've been able to add lots of images:
- amilo3438 has sent an update to his previous pack, now including also dozen of snaps for console controllers;
- Tafoid has donated a few thousands (you read correctly, *thousands*!) of snaps for snes, gameboy, gameboy color and gba games, depicting either their title screen or their gameplay, and I've been very happy to include them all in the website;
-plus, I have completed both the gamegear set of snaps, by integrating the images by Scuore and Swos with many new ones and by replacing a few which were not on par with latest fixes in the emulator, and the nes snapshot collection, which marks a milestone for the website which can finally feature one of the big systems complete with emulation snaps for all games (more than 3900!)

And this is just the beginning: more new extras are waiting to be announced in the next weeks! Stay tuned!

EDIT: probably tiredness did not make me notice the lack of detailed instructions on how editing sysinfo can work. say you want to improve the ColecoVision entry, then you just have to go to the ColecoVision system page, scroll the page to the bottom and click on the "Edit this entry" after the sysinfo box. You will reach the edit page where you can enter the new text on the right box (the left one is the current sysinfo entry) and submit any improvements.
Sorry but it is quite late here and I did not think to add all details from the beginning
