Well Micro$quish Windows stuff isn't the best-selling stuff it was back in the day. So the company has taken the initiative in exploiting the current Windoze desktops for $$$.
And when one company does exploits the others soon follow. At least Micro$quish is giving you the clown pocket option. The rest, well...
