SDLMAME only existed starting at 0.107, and it requires hardware OpenGL to run well with scaling. That said, a 5500FX with the Nvidia binary blob drivers should work well for MAME, especially at the relatively low resolutions an arcade monitor enforces.
There is no formal archive of older versions; your best bet is to take this URL:
http://rbelmont.mameworld.info/sdlmame0111.zip
and change the version numbers accordingly to get other versions. 0.111 is the earliest version I have, and then it skips to 0111u5, but it should be largely complete after that. Note that versions that old may have various weird problems that don't exist in current MAME - the SDL support took several major releases to get good and shaken down.
