Slots are based on percentages, so a machine set for 96% payout will pay out 96 cents for every dollar spent on average over the long run. You'll see them advertised like that sometimes, some of them as high as 99%. > Slots to me seem to be the fastest way to drain your money.
It depends how much you're starting with. Slots let you make relatively small bets, so you can stretch out your money even if you're not winning very much. I don't think I've ever seen blackjack for less than $5 a hand, and $10+ is more common at the casinos I've been to. If you're starting with $30, it's going to be a pretty short night unless you're incredibly lucky on the first few hands.
