Well i don't like that neither, but with iphone, if "their way" is the best way, I see no problem ^^ And if you want to get a little out of the right way, you can still jailbreak your phone.
I have a iphone 4 jailbreaked, and I just love it.. intuitive, fun, fast, powerfull (have you seen some pics of Shadow Gun on iphone...? it's really good no kidding) Add to this the best screen available (Retina display) and you'll get imho the best phone, most user friendly you will ever have...
The few android phones i have tried weren't as user friendly nor that much as fast, the touch screen never reacted as intuitively and immediately as iphone does... And about all others nice things, ipod, real 720p camera, really good pictures (usually better than phones that have more millions pixels, size does not matter that much when the lens is not the best on the market....)
I am not a Apple fan, nor a Apple user except at work, but my phone is a iPhone.. not because it's Apple, just because it's an iphone.
