I don't know what's with all this modern, electronic, battery-powered stuff. For example, I have deliberately bought liquid-in-a-tube thermometers because that way there is no battery to die. But that's just me. Also, mechanical wristwatches still do exist, and are sold for less than USD 100, and I recommend them for people who wear a watch only occasionally: again, no battery to die.
