I am in the habit of collecting and/or modifying wallpapers for my own desktop background use. 1920x1080. It's really silly when you get right down to it, since I rarely even see my desktop (I keep my puter on 24/7/365 if I can help it, and my program or directory windows stay open).
Anyway, the way I have been backing them up is: 1) have SuperCopier 2 running in the background (autostarts with Windows), where the default behaviour is to Rename New File. Sure as hell beats standard Windows copy behavior, e.g. stops everything in case of error. 2) Copy files. 3) Run DoubleKiller on the target directory.
So the end result is: - completely new files get copied over - identically named (but updated or otherwise changed) files get copied over with new filenames - truly identical doubles (with new filenames) get removed.
Contrived perhaps, but the goal is accomplished.
What do you call this kind of backup, and what sort of freeware or payware is recommended to do this automatically/efficiently?
