That's just stupid. Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island are the same place. 
Besides, that stuff you see isn't "north" Jersey. It's east Jersey. The whole strip where the turnpike runs through is infected, along with the few counties nearest "the City."
North Jersey is a place of hills and trees, where trains don't stop and buses come but once a day.
