I've got drums on back and they adjust when you back up, not from the parking brake. The parking brake also has a self adjusting feature by the handle to compensate for cable stretch. That said, I do use the parking brake. I've been driving cars with manual transmissions since I started driving. When I first started driving, I would just leave it in gear and not set the parking brake. One time I stepped out to get gas and when I was reaching for the pump handle, I heard the sound of movement. I turned around and realized that my car was rolling away. I was able to dive in and yank the parking brake up! Guess I left her in neutral. Anyway, after that, I always set the parking brake.
