MAMEUI somehow set pause brightness to 0 > instead of .65. Ah, I happened to think of pause brightness since posting. Apparently UI is fucked up in this regard. It seems to be a lack of communication between ini and interface on this and other things, such as prescale and some HLSL parameters, not to mention the mame.ini settings not being passed onto/governing the game inis. Further, moving the default options slider in UI effects no change in visible value, nor in mame.ini, nor does it affect any games. You have to do it per game. Consider it high comedy....sincere tragedy....whatever...don't take it personally. The Culture
