That is the big one I was afraid of, you can actually ~hear~ them chewing through my father-n-laws gazebo. Nasty little things.
I am leaning more toward cedar, everyone I've asked has mentioned it. I figure as long as it's painted anyway, it should hold up. Did the cedar on your porch warp or shrink at all?
