I've heard stuff like that is pretty common in USA, but I can't ascertain for sure. There're outrages here too, but frequently they don't pass from an exchange of insults nor punches on elbows.
I've learned something about requesting and receiving service (as much as everyone else) and the key relies usually in the way of asking. I've seen cases where even services get denied or push to last because service is requested in a bad or presumptuous mood. Not rocket science here, you already know this.
I'm not implying anything between nationalities, cultures or races; but even so it's amazing the amount of stress someone should be to outburst like that.
