Haven't forgotten about this - I've just been running into some odd issues with it.

If I run mame-symbols (my binary with symbols enabled), all three games start and run normally, and exit cleanly. Running mame-symbols through gdb as requested, they again work as expected.

I'm beginning to suspect that there may have been errors in my default build that either weren't reported or that I didn't catch. I'll rebuild it later and see what (if anything) changes.

God forbid it's a hardware problem showing its head.
