That's fine if you want to focus on a few negative things. When something bad happens in the Bible -you have to keep in mind if the result was of their bad choices or if it was for justice. Like, someone stole from you, they were tried and convicted, but a judge just lets them go free. I suppose God (in the Old testament) should've let every evil action just slide by?

The rules that applied to the people of Israel were so they could be perfect, an example to the rest of the world. It sounds pretty authoritarian. But, as an example; would it be an authoritarian principle for people to not do things like drugs? What if people didn't even have the desire to do drugs? Then there wouldn't be ANY problem with drugs in the first place. So, you could say it's an authoritarian principle to tell people not to sin. But if they don't have the desire to sin (or break the commandments of God)... well? You could say that's just using fear to get people to follow your "religion". I'd be more fearful of the end result of foolish decisions (or going so far into something that you can't get out of it). Like anyone should be fearful of jumping into a lion cage. It's a good type of fear.

Death isn't something to look forward to because that would be very selfish to leave our loved ones behind to grieve, it's just something that shouldn't be feared anymore. And the best thing to a Christian should be - knowing those who live around them aren't going to go to a place and suffer for all eternity after they die.
