This doesn't lower the price any, but I HIGHLY recommend the Western Digital Green series drives. They're EXTREMELY quiet, run VERY cool, and unless you're doing heavy video streaming, you can't tell that they're 5400 RPM. I think the extra large cache is the key. I've been running one of these drives (a 500GB model) in my primary computer 24 hours a day for close to 3 years now. For me the lack of noise is the most important factor. It's almost completely silent. In fact, my power supply fan is actually louder. I have to remove the side of my case and put my ear less than 6 inches away from the HD to be able to hear anything, and then only when it's actively seeking data. Idle noise is non-existent.
