Or in other words. No one has done it. There is a paper out there that says it 'might' be possible. But no one has proven that it is. In fact quite the contrary. If it where possible there would be dozens of data recovery companies out there advertising that they do exactly that. None do.

The paper itself even states it would be nearly impossible to fully recreate a usable hard drive.

One pass with random would be more than enough.

Most of the time I use sdelete is just to 0 out sectors so I can reclaim space in virtual machines.
