Doing some research, I found that MAME used to support exactly what I'm talking about. In MAME32 at least up through .69, it was in the Interface Options, and when checked, the nag screens would be displayed only the first time a game was run in that directory, and never again for any other games run first-time.
It comes to memory that all these 'nag-relieved' builds sprang up some time after that. Hmmmm.
In any case, to perhaps clarify some: I'm [more] talking about the game status nags, which are displayed every time the game is run. The 'disable nag' switch doesn't affect this.
Consider it high comedy....sincere tragedy....whatever...don't take it personally.
