The nag screens are there to stop 300,000 people from asking mamedev why game X doesn't work properly and/or why their ROMs are 'bad'. Remove the nag screen in official MAME and you'll end up with flooded emulation boards all across the world from clueless gamez kiddies asking the same questions over and over.

The only thing which should be obliterated from emulation should be bad dumps and hacked games (this includes built-in trainers and intros among others) - for example, type any single NES game you can think of into a search engine or P2P program and you will get about 100 versions of it with , [o], [h], [t] not including a million translation and graphics hacks because the stupid pokeROM community simply has to collect 'em all regardless if they are good or not.
