I agree. If you made something that actually let you set certain configurations outside of running MAME, such as orientation or monitor settings based on type, I would endorse it. Otherwise, it not the type of program that should be flaunted, as helpful as it might be for some people.
One word of note, leave an ability to exit the program at any time active. I felt uneasy as cancel didn't cancel the procedure but simply brought me back a menu with no way to exit the program once started without using it.
IMHO, It ranks up there with no-nag screen removal to me.
Make it all you want for your use, just don't advertise it here.
