I just got a spoof call from a woman with an indian accent, claiming that she was from Microsoft such and such (I couldn't work out the rest of it), to tell me that my computer was infected with a virus and that she could help me fix it. She told me to turn my computer on and she would help me fix the settings. We'll since it was already on and obviously wasn't pinging the crap out of something on the other side of the planet, I asked her for an official email from Microsoft. After about three minutes of telling me it was a courtesy call from Microsoft and that my computer WAS infested with a virus she gave up.
