I don't mean to be inconsiderate, but it looks like the problem is with you instead of the gun or the game.
Case in point...I use a "derivative" of the Aimtrak, and have ZERO issues with most gun games. That is because I use a 4:3 monitor. If you are using a widescreen monitor, consider non-stretching resolutions and play the game in the original format.
I understand that the black bars may be distracting, but that was the original format of the game and how the original software calibrated the guns. Set the game in original screen mode and calibrate using the aspect ratio instead of the wide screen, and all should work.
My point is that if the original game worked in a specific resolution, then trying to add hacks to make it work in other resolutions is just that...a hack.
