It's possible Vas said something like this last year but I myself didn't notice.
While I do have an intention to contribute, it's been causing more harm than good from my end. In my opinion, learning how to decipher program rom code is a greater requirement as opposed to learning to code in C++. My attempts to learn the former have all failed.
For example, we have the gun controls in Operation: Thunder Hurricane. The best way for me to figure that out is to dive into its I/O 68k program containing gun logic and network/serial via custom to communicate with the main board.
I probably could have continued but Mame is currently failing to compile from my end due to a "cc1plus.exe out of memory allocating x bytes". This started to happen after the emumem cleanup and I have a feeling some others may have this issue too.
