The fact that such a popular and beloved classic still has emulation errors speaks more to the difficulty of the problem than the dedication of the community. If it were that easy a problem to fix, it would have been done by now. If you read through the comments on that Mametesters entry, it has to do with analog components on the board that are not fully understood. Undocumented components can prevent games from running at all (see how it took decades for Raiden II to be supported due to the hardware using a custom chip for calculating bullet trajectories) so in a way we're lucky that an audio error is the only glaring issue with this game. Really, we're lucky MAME lets us play these games at all.
