The Rays manager should have stayed with starter Blake Snell a few more innings even though the team had gone by previous success numbers of using relief pitchers after starter had gone through Dodgers batting line up in three successions. Sometimes have to change game strategies and discard previous routines even in the middle of a game. That's why the likes of Tony LaRussa and Joe Torre (to some extent) were successful baseball managers during the playoffs. They knew when to change strategies during a baseball game and change the outcome.

>The year I graduated high school, the Lakers and Dodgers were champions.

I forget that it was Detroit Pistons in 1988 season although Detroit and its "Bad Boys squad of Rodman, Rick Mahorn, Bill Laimbeer" returned the favor the following season.

As for Dodgers 2020 season, it will be comparable to the 1981 labor strike shortened season because of the 2020 season not being a full season. Thankful for that part because Pitt Pirates were extremely terrible and would have lost over 140 games in 2020 season when playing the full 162 games. It's bad enough the franchise has covered all professional teams sports season (NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB) with 20 straight consecutive years of non-winning. Pitt would easily set worst single season losing record and be considered far worse than 1962 NY Mets had an entire full MLB schedule been played in 2020.

As for 1981 Dodgers World Series victory parade that happened in October 1981, my high school alma mater was one of the local soCal high school marching bands that marched in the victory parade. Being a junior that school year, I was one of the three tenor drum players (school had Slingerland brand drums and the tenor drums were the generic tri-tom variety).

>The year I turn 50, the Lakers and Dodgers are champions.

Unfortunately this is the season that both teams will get the asterisk treatment by detractors since a full season was not played. Somewhat of a miracle that NBA and MLB were able to run any season for this year and whatever happens the next year or two.

>And there go the fireworks. (I guess we'll just pretend we haven't been having fire alert
>warnings the last couple days).

Luckily that someone that I know who has a home in Foothill Ranch section in south Irvine was fortunate that their specific neighborhood was not affected because the street is adjacent to an overhead cliff where strong Santa Ana winds would whip along their street. Intimidating to imagine had brush and grass fire flames and fiery ashes were blowing by along the street during severe wind gusts amongst the houses on that street.

btw: there are very few leafs in that neighborhood area (a few trees) that need to be raked up.
