Here is the upcoming Vectrex artwork file that shows a couple of the new features of the new Layout system in MAME. Many thanks to uman for doing the cleanup work on the Vectrex overlays (still need to track down the source of who scanned what).
You can turn on/off individual parts of the artwork to suit your individual need:
-- Turn off the Overlay Color, with any other combination of the artwork
-- Turn off the system cabinet and Vectrex overlay, playing the game full screen with just the Overlay Color
-- Turn off just the system cabinet, so that you have the Vectrex overlay with/without Overlay color
-- Turn off the GCE label, if you want to instead use the Milton Bradley version of the system cabinet
Old version of the layout system, this would not have been possible without defining multiple views for each game in the system.
In the new layout system, each game overlay is defined as an element once; the system cabinet with the label is defined once as a group, and there is one view for each game, which only consists of the screen, the game overlay twice (once as Overlay Color, once as the overlay itself), and the cabinet group, with Collections defined where needed to turn on/off the individual layers.
