Many thanks for your reply/help. It didn't fix my issue exactly; however, I was able to use your answer in another way within the LAY file. I think my problem has to do w/the native rotation of the monitors in Windows and then trying to apply certain rotations in the game and artwork - too much !
I simplified it for my project and everything is working (and uses your answer as part of it).
I also was able to update my marquee_only builder script to build artwork files for clones. What it does now is check if the gamename is a clone-of another game. If so, take a copy of the parent marquee and rename it to match the clone and build the LAY file.
This way, I at least have something displayed when playing clones w/no matching marquee.
