In theory, this same method would work with joysticks? Or no? Not that I'm looking forward to animating joysticks for some 500+ games, but it would be more complete for the games that use generic sticks. You'd need 9 different photos/illustrations for each unique stick, which would be tedious to obtain to say the least.
