Game & Watch - slowdown

I've noticed a slowdown in some G&W games I have, I don't know in which MAME version the slowdown begun though. My machine is not top notch but these games used to be faster in previous MAME versions. Does anyone know the reason for this slowdown? My games are running around 32% speed...
