Need help debugging please

My Mame 0.216 has stopped working for me. When I run from the command line (verbose) the last lien is:

Empty Input File

The is right after it attempts the default.cfg and the .cfg

This happens directly after the information screen is acknowledged (by any button push) for the launched game.

I had recently loaded Dolphin and hooked up an xbox controller to the system. Other controls are zero delay usb joysticks.

Does anyone have any ideas that can help me out?
