Apricot Keyboard controller

I am having trouble with a Apricot PC I retored a few years ago. Its looking like the keyboard controller has failed. Ive managed to source a repalcement new old stock hd6301V1 chip, but the original controller also has a bit of code in it that also needs to be put into the new chip in order for it to work. I know the MAME team also needed this bit of code for the emulator to work. Can anyone help with advice or point me in the right direction to get this bit of code and get it put into my new chip so I can again get my Apricot working fully again. I am in the UK.
