I'm investigating this......
It is very confusing cause many official ports of the game have been released so I cannot know which video comes from. The game is the most popular samarai showdown game ever and it has been ported so several domestic consoles, old and new ones. For example, switch version shows the same bugs as current MAME:

Current MAME could be showing a bug present in the original hardware.
Untill now I know ps4/vita shows no bugs, old mame prior to 0.116u1 shows no bugs too...
But I still haven't found a good video showing the original MVS cartdridge clearly being run.
