I wasn't trying to ridicule you at all, and I apologize for my wording which most likely makes it sound that way. I was trying to be as direct as possible, but I believe I erred in that.
No, the reason why I asked if you were on the spectrum is because I am as well, and your post reminded me a lot of when I was (what I'm assuming to be) your age: Eager to help, enthusiastic about emulation, but at times jumping from point A to point Z without necessarily traversing all of the necessary points in between.
I've answered your PMs, but to give a general synopsis here, I think you have quite a noble goal in mind, and it's great to see someone else with such a raw passion for preservation. And more funding is always needed, particularly as prices trend upward due to availability trending downward over time. But instead of focusing on what you'd like to do at an indeterminate point in the future, why not focus on what you can currently do? There are so many different skill sets other than pure programming that can benefit MAME, and leveraging those skill sets is actually one of the MAME team's weaker points.
