I saw somewhere someone generated some old-style sprites, and it looked pretty interesting. I wrote some code for it. Maybe it's just me but, I can't stop looking at them.
I see a lot of aliens and monsters. Some animals, owls, cats and dogs seem pretty common. Kind of makes me want to put some kind of game together.
I apologize in advance if you see anything offensive. 
I ported it to a web page so you can see what I'm talking about. I'm a winforms programmer so sorry if I messed it up, last time I did web it was with silverlight.
