Okay, so here's my project:
I currently have a Gauntlet Dark Legacy 4-player cabinet. I would like to keep Gauntlet running off its original hardware, while also being able to switch controls, video, and sound between that hardware and a USB encoder of some kind going to a PC running MAME.
I'm trying to figure out what hardware I need to shop for before I can make this work. I know I'm going to need 49-way encoders for each player on the PC, but I'm not sure what I would need to switch everything over from the arcade board to the PC encoder.
Has anyone ever done anything like this? I know JAMMA switchers are a thing, but I also know the 49-way joysticks throw a wrench in the whole works.
