This is great info, but the Programming subforum on MAMEWorld is possibly the absolute worst place to be posting it. Almost nobody goes here, least of all to find bugs reports about MAME. You'd be better off posting both this and your bug report regarding the cassette drive in any of the following places:
- The EmuChat subforum
- The bannister.org forums
- MAMETesters
- The issue-reporting page on MAME's Github page: https://github.com/mamedev/mame/issues
